Evening on the 17th of August 2004

Ah well, what an entertaining week its been so far.  Taras a member of the Dublin forums and it seems like I've spent all week assisting her in her defence against some utter pond-scum shite called Dessik2002.  Started off with him making a post saying that Tara was a purveyor of pornography and filth just because she's got a link to www.b3ta.co.uk in her profile.  Yeah, thats right.  That was the thread.  Not thrown in as an aside, just straight to the point.  Yeah. thats the same www.b3ta.co.uk that gets several thousand hits a day which is smutty and childish admittedly, but I find it quite amusing.  Anyway, the argument went from the sublime to the ridiculous - I've kept it all (it was too damn funny to let vanish in the annals of history) so I'll post it somewhere at some stage.  This is a guy who accuses me of all kinds of things (never met the guy - never wish to) and then says he'll accept an apology.  Was SO tempted to let the rest of the b3tans know about this, but the Dublin forums a good place (with some good people) and the additional traffic would probably kill it.  Still, if you agree with Dessik2002, and I know that many of you right-minded individuals are bound to, you can join him in this brave crusade.  Click here (www.cafepress.com/barbelith) and pay me lots of money and register your support - let the brave likes of the lone crusader Dessik2002 know that HE IS NOT ALONE!  THAT OTHERS FEEL HIS PAIN!  (Alternatively if, like me, you think Dessik2002 is a waste of perfectly good skin, then don't buy a t-shirt.  I won't resent you for it).  Anyway, made me chuckle anyway - think the guy was getting way too carried away so decided just to leave him to it.  With a bit of luck, he'll just burn himself out.  Still persistently out of hummus, so no new b3ta postings - still, got Friday off so other than planning on an army to get thrashed by Lee and Matt, I'll have some time spare..!  Life is good!

The fine and dandy 15th of August 2004

Tara did her first postings for b3ta yesterday, and theres a new gallery section in her bit to celebrate this fact.   Put some more stuff in the gallery (although a relatively b3ta light weekend, this one) which should keep you moderately entertained.  Because the "funny" gallery page was taking a phenomenally long time to load, I've archived about half of them away - they're still easy enough to find, tho'!  Also Tara's just spent some time putting descriptions against the Dublin photographs so you can now happily put faces to names..!    Also annoyed to find that I can't bring myself to do any more lil' cthulhu cartoons - here's me thinking it was my own original idea and I get pointed towards this website - www.hello-cthulhu.com - where somebody not only proves me wrong but does it so so much better.  Drat and blast!

After work on the 10th of August 2004

We've all moved succesfully to Webfusion, and thanks to their support department (and a little help from OneonOnes support department as well) it's been RELATIVELY painless.  All up and running with 600 megabytes to spare.. Can't fault that!  Just don't know what to fill it with now - I'm not that full of Hummus that I can keep churning out b3ta postings.  Ho hum!  You might have noticed that Tara's got her own little section on the main page now - just click on the grumpy ginger thing next to the happy grey hatted thing and wend your way into the ginger zone..  Interestingly enough now though I've just checked and the Tiscali one is up and running again!   Must tell them to clear that bugger down...!  Alas and alas again, the front page I once had has now scrolled its sorry way downwards into infinity.  Still, a couple of hundred hits on the web site today according to the funky new web statistics provided by Webfusion, so thass cool.  See you shits on the flipside.

Earl-i in the morning on the 9th of August 2004

I have been a naughty boy.  Barbelith is currently unavailable due to the following reason :-

Eek!  Don't even know why I'm posting - It's probably because if I didn't, I'd go well and truly mad.  Need a new host.. Obviously this excessive b3ta use over the last month has caned my bandwidth a treat.   Obviously getting the front page means that everybody who ran b3ta since Saturday night has been draining me little by little.  Still, have bit the bullet and getting some proper web-hosting as opposed to the free stuff I had with Tiscali; Webfusion.  £7.95 a month (as opposed to everybody else who only seemed to want to charge me for a whole year, which I can ill afford).  Currently having a few problems setting it up; probably my impatience in waiting for the site name to be propogated.  Mental note: if I get a front page in future, host the picture through somebody else (like Imageshock, who I bunged the Keith Chegwin picture to in a panic this morning).

Later on the 7th of August 2004

I got a front page on b3ta!I got a front page on b3ta!

And also have discovered the absolute GENIUS that is Sealab 2021.. Look out for downloads of this series on Limewire or the like - episodes are only 11 minutes long and about 90 megabytes so you guyz with broadband should have no troubles.  I'm now on my fifth (and final) Carling, it's only five past ten and I'm absolutely bladdered.  Going to see Mum and Dads puppy doing flyball tomorrow (as well as get a free dinner) so catch you tomorrow, fuckwits..

Crack of Dawn on the 7th of August 2004

Got up way too early this morning and decided to add another gallery to the website to split up all the Lil' Cthulhu stuff.  Some emergency optimizing is required - way too many entries in the gallery now to let the page load quickly!  Did a couple more entries, including a Keith Chegwin one to get posted tomorrow and after a funny conversation with Simon (see links for his fab website) and Mark did the Jesus Heist supercar one from an idea of their.. Much respect..!

Lovely Sunny afternoon on afternoon of the 31st of July 2004

After dealing with the most bored looking shop assistant in the world in Virgin who seemed to resent the fact I was interrupted her sulking to actually want to buy something, I am now the proud owner of a lovely mini iPod! Have been dumping songs on it throughout the day and have nearly used a quarter of its 4 gig memory already.  Still, sound quality is great and lovin' it lovin' it lovin' it.  Party round Jons tonight so catch you all tomorrow...  Oh, and theres a obviously a couple of things in the gallery as well from last nights confinement to my room.

Falling asleep on the evening of the 29th of July 2004

Really, really tired.. It's half ten in the evening, I've been up since about 5 this morning, and I'm absolutely knackered and about to turn in.  Couple more things in the gallery (surprise, surprise) so will no doubt catch you tomorrow evening.  The lil' ladies got an Anne Summers party in my living room so I'm confined to quarters, no doubt to try and desperately get a front page in b3ta again... See you all on the flip side, suckers.

About to go into town on the 25th of July 2004

Thats it; Ironclad is no more.. A lovely evening of Mashed (see other diary entries for more on this little baby!), the final Ironclad and then Mashed 'til the midnight hour.  Jon cooked a fantastic chili jon carne which has been having repercussions throughout the night.  Theres some more early morning concoctions in the gallery, and have a lovely remainder of your weekend...

Obscenely early on the 24th of July 2004

Thanks to the beauty of spec-savers, I can now see!  Two pairs for the price of one!  Ready in 24 hours.. there is a god.  I can see clearly now, etc..  Anywhere, some more postings for your dubious pleasure and have moved several of the pictures into the new "Odd stuff" gallery to categorize anything which isn't particularly funny but ones to be filed under "strange experimental crap".

Evening on the 20th of July 2004

Same old, same old.. A couple more things in the gallery and still no summer burn CDs received as of yet.  Will they ever arrive?  Watch this space!  Also had the entertainment of my glasses breaking yesterday so everything looks like this at the moment..

Having been up for way too long on the morning of the 17th of July 2004

Lots more exciting things in the gallery for you.  Received an e-mail from me old mate Paul yesterday condemning a particular choice of track on the compilation CD below, namely "I am absolutely disgusted to find that you have a Lost prophets (Just typing the word fills me with self loathing and the need to scrub my balls with a brillo pad) song on your compilation download dohickey. It seems like only 3 years ago that we were all launching stuff at them at the urban games." - Well, it made me laugh anyway.  Have a good day and no doubt there will be some more stuff for you to look at tomorrow.

Later on the 11th of July 2004

When you get the chance pop by and visit my b3ta alter-ego (FoldsFive) at the lovely web address http://b3ta-motel.ephrine.com/ or more precisely http://b3ta-motel.ephrine.com/motel7/index.html - you can't miss me; I'm between the house with the woman kissing the glass cock and "the fear"

Oh God why can't I have the sleep patterns of a normal human on the 11th July 2004

I've been up for way too long and seem to have become addicted to b3ta.. Some more stuff in the gallery constructed by myself during the course of yesterday afternoon and last night.  Must.. leave... house.. today...

Hangover fading on Saturday 10th July 2004 thanks to the miracle of Tizer

Son of a Bastard whore!  Spent the last two bloody hours building a fancy animation for b3ta and then the bloody file size is too big to actually post onto it - In the words of Mojo Jojo - "Curses!".  Anyway, popped a couple more things in the gallery, mucked about, smoked a couple of cigarettes.. Still awaiting my two compact disks from the funjunkie summer burn but its early days yet.  Have a great remainder of your weekend.

Snotty Day on Sunday 4th July 2004

Spent much of the day suffering from a really bad attack of hayfever, so have been mostly stuck indoors doing some submissions for b3ta - all are available for your viewing pleasure in our lovely gallery and, even though I say so myself, are rather good.  The web-cam one got some positive feedback at b3ta even though I panicked and took the ipod one off when I was told that it was 'nsfw' - Thats 'not suitable for work' for the layman.  I Read their faq - what should I do?  Put some kind of indication in the header?  Flag it somehow?  Delete it completely?  Stuck on the safe side and just removed it - however, its in the gallery here and you'll probably see why it's not suitable for work after all (and why it gave me quite a legitimate reason to search the internet for pornography - Can quite honestly justify doing it for research purposes) - Quite why anybody should be browsing b3ta at work though is absolutely beyond me...

Joyous Celebrations on Saturday 3rd July 2004

Not only did Marco get voted out last night (hip hip hooray, there is a God, etc) but he fell flat on his stupid dogs face.  Good.  Anyway, good news is I got my burn finished today for the Summer Burn 2004 on Fun Junkie.. and what an eclectic choice it is as well..!

I shall pop it in the post tomorrow and see what fabby two CDs I receive in return.  Oh, the excitement!

Waiting for Chicken Jaypuri on Thursday 1st July 2004

Thats it.. enough is enough.  I am irritated beyond belief by a certain individuals gurning happy clappy mug on my television.  Please if there be any justice on Gods Green Earth let the following waste of skin be voted out tomorrow.  BY ALL THAT IS GOOD!

Marco?  You give humanity a bad name.  Do us all a favour - Leave the goddamn house!

Early (but not too early) on Sunday 27th June 2004

Okay, okay - so Ironclad hasn't finished quite yet.. Last night we worked out a great formula for an entertaining evening though; 1 X-Box + 3 controllers + 2 friends + 1 copy of "Mashed" (once I'd gone to Gamestation - seemingly the only place in the whole of this damn city selling it) - surely the most entertaining multiplayer driving game ever released.  I cannot recommend this game enough (even the mighty Halo didn't get a look in)!!  Although the following "exchange" became quite common...

Quiet Night In 25th June 2004

Cry your eyes, babe... An era ends tomorrow; Last ever Ironclad scenario - Time to move on to new things methinks.  Undoubtedly more postings over the weekend, so catch you all then..

Before going out on Saturday 19th June 2004

Got an absolute hammering at Mage Knight - started well but then went definitely a bit Pete Tong.  Still, have got the battle report finished in ultra-quick time and its now in the usual place.  I played the Black Powders by the way.. Gary was Elementals, and you guessed it, Lee was undead.  This evening I am going to the Hereward College Prom and am in two minds over whether to get dressed up for it or not .. !

Waiting for Pizza to arrive at Thursday 17th June 2004

Because Matt (boo) can't make it for his mighty Mage Knight campaign saturday, have been forced to write a quick little Mage Knight scenario - which is available in the Mage Knight section for your delectation and delight.  Seems a waste not to let the world see it... Battle Report over the weekend; Seems like ages since I did one!

Way too early on Sunday June 13th 2004

Today the entertainment of the Godiva Festival beckoned; Coventrys free festival featuring the delights of Goldie Lookin' Chain and the Datsuns.  Came to the conclusion that Portaloos are like generators for Chavs - there were dozens of the spacktard little bleeders hanging around; Maybe there's an inherent attraction of those clad in burberry to the smell of excrement.  "Ah yeh right, and then she said, right, she's such a bitch right, yeah right, and she shagged Kev right, and yeah right, and - ".

Quite early on Saturday June 12th 2004

Well, the mighty Pablo rocked a big one.  Finished the intro for hellboy and put some photographs in for good measure.  Have a good weekend!  Wrote the theme toon, sang the theme toon...

When I really should be having a shave on Friday June 11th 2004

Rush job, this.. About to go out and see my good friend Jons band Pablo play in Coventry (or should  I say "The Mighty Pablo - file under ROCK".  However, have just updated the Hellboy stuff with the beginnings of an introduction so read and enjoy.  No doubt catch you tomorrow.  'Tis the weekend!  Gawd bless!

When I really should be making tea for visitors on Sunday June 6th 2004

Good morning.. Not quite as obscene time to wake up today after a heady evening of dusty board games, Chicken Biryani and Stella Artois.  Tidied up a few more links and actually thought I'd put some pictures in the gallery - well, it only seemed fair.

Saturday June 5th 2004

Its an obscene time of the morning and a lot of the links have returned and I'm in the process of building a new celebrity non-endorsed gallery for your delectation and delight.  I now have a fancy forum (see to your left) where you can leave me all kinds of fancy messages and I can get progressively more depressed when nobody does.

Friday June 4th 2004

Calm down.. calm down.. Your regular dietary requirements of Barbelith has returned to the fold, bigger and better than ever.  All the useless stuff that nobody ever looked at or referred to has been casually tossed in the rubbish like so much.. erm.. rubbish, and you should find the new streamlined site a long better.  That is, of course, until I get bored of the emptiness of it all and clog it all up with countless meg of more shite.  A couple of links are still not quite right, but that should all be fixed by the end of the weekend.
